Sunshine Village, March 15

The weather is starting to cool off a bit, maybe 10-15F, and with snow in Banff I was not optimistic about Sunshine. The area was running Delirium Dive tours for our group, which I feared would be cancelled. Fortunately it was just overcast and lightly snowing, so I got 2 great runs back there. The transceiver and shovel requirement was part of the deal in Parks Canada permitting skiing in Delirium Dive in 1999 after 15 years of closure, but it does have the pleasant side effect of keeping skier numbers very low. Therefore after the steep entry of 500 vertical or so, it is easy to spread out into the bowl and get untracked snow for the rest of the run.

Snow conditions were uniformly packed powder with a couple inches fresh cover elsewhere in the area, even on SW facing Goat's Eye.
