12/14/03 Snoqualmie Pass,
Day skied at Alpental. Fresh powder, not just new. Caught lots of above the knee turns and pitches all over the place off-piste. With the very light and fluffy snow, watch out for tree wells as the usually stable edges wouldn't hold you out. Chair 2 was opened after morning avy control, but then closed again when the phoneline between top and bottom went dead. Grrrrr. All in all, one of the best snow days in the last 20 years at the pass. TomK, Kerry, Chad, & Karrie.

12/18/03 Snoqualmie Pass,
Did a couple of hours of Night ski at Central. Clear sky with bright stars. Snow was very carvable and then froze to ruts around 8PM. It went from nice to not over 2 runs. Great coverage. Ski-on for the triple-60 lift, 1-2 minutes on the Express. Off-piste was very consolidated, 1 inch surface carvable crust, then 12-18 inch underneath that that was nice and firm, then a 1/2 inch old solid layer, 4-6 inches of firm again, then the base. Skiing the untracked felt like a wind-buffed slab. TomK & Kerry.
