Somehow I'll never get used to someone loading and unloading my skis on a gondola for me. <BR> <BR>While the base areas of Deer Valley (Snow Park and Silver Lake) felt busy today, the liftlines were anywhere between 90 seconds and non-existant. Easier green and blue cruisers were human slaloms at times, but the blacks were deserted, like during this view atop the Sultan chair on Bald Mt.: <BR> <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/9/3568.jpg" ALT="Sultan chair"> <BR> <BR>The Thunder trail: <BR> <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/9/3569.jpg" ALT="Thunder"> <BR> <BR>Empire Canyon: <BR> <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/9/3570.jpg" ALT="Empire Canyon"> <BR> <BR>Cover was superb, even down to the base station of the Jordanelle Gondi. Grooming was up to Deer Valley's impeccable reputation, except that things were slick on manmade snow on Jordanelle. <BR> <BR>A surprise treat at lunch was dining with former World Cupper and U.S. Ski Team member Heidi Voelker. Of course, the food at the Royal Street Cafe also lived up to Deer Valley's reputation -- witness this "Shrimp & Lobster Margarita": <BR> <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/9/3571.jpg" ALT="Shrimp & Lobster Margarita">
