LAS VEGAS SKI & SNOWBOARD RESORT WILL OPERATE A SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION
PROGRAM FOR THE 2009–2010 SEASON

Shuttle program will help reduce traffic congestion and related environmental impacts by
providing ski area guests with an alternative transportation system.

Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort is happy to announce today that it has entered into an agreement with the USDA Forest Service to establish a two year pilot shuttle service from the Las Vegas valley to the ski area. The program will provide a much needed transportation service for visitors to the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.

Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort will offer the Ski Bus, thanks to a $168,300 grant from the Federal Transit Administration’s Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in Parks Program. The Ski Bus fleet will help to alleviate traffic congestion during peak winter recreation periods and reduce the need for temporary on-site parking in the environmentally sensitive ski resort area.

“This grant allows us to expand the ski area market to include customers that desire or require alternative transportation in an environmentally friendly way,” said Craig Baldwin, Base Operations Manager. “One bus will reduce car counts on the mountain by at least seventeen vehicles per day, potentially reducing traffic by 2500 vehicles or more this season. The Ski Bus will also make it convenient for guests who are not prepared for driving in winter storm conditions when the roads may require traction devices.”

The Ski Bus shuttle is an affordable option with roundtrip fees priced at only $20. The shuttle will offer one trip daily, seven days a week, beginning Dec. 14. The service route will run from Town Square on South Las Vegas Blvd (7:15 a.m. departure) to “The Lodge at Tenaya”, near Ann Road and 95 (8:00 a.m. departure) then directly to the ski area. The route also connects with the CAT bus system.
Reservations will be taken both by the ski area’s city office (702) 645–6053 and via the website www.skilasvegas.com.
