Grand Targhee 1/5

After feet of new snow this past week and a Winter Storm watch posting, decided to leave Wasatch world for Targhee. Was not at all disappointed. By the end of the day maybe 5" of new dense snow that bonded well to the soft surface, good coverage, no bumps, no visibilty (top 200', enough to scare people off Dreamcatcher and onto Blackfoot and Sac) and few people. Will try again tomorrow.

Yesterday at Alta was two soft runs down Main Chute, Sunday was Castle (one run, just about 1/5 of it opened so it got tracked fast) and an Apron on punchy powder (open from the lower gate, like adding half an East Castle of sidestepping to the already arduous bootpack), and Saturday was at an amazingly unbusy walk on tram at 10:00 kind of day Snowbird (nobody headed out to Bookends, could score easy tracks in creamy powder until the afternoon with minimal effort).

The run on sentences make for less typing,

Doug
