Day 69: Pretty much a carbon copy of yesterday with regard to weather, runs and people. I'll therefore skip you the details and just throw up the photos. And FYI, rumor has it that Snowbird may give me a chance at a lift-served Day 70.

Marc_C took pictures, too, so I expect that he'll add a few to this thread.

Yes, but the reason it looks that way in that photo is because of grooming, not snowmaking. The snowpack has a brown dust layer on top from wind storms blowing in from the desert. Grooming tills the snow so it's more white.

Regulator Johnson gets the full brunt of prevailing winds all winter, thus the natural base in other locations is substantially deeper despite the snowmaking on Reg.

So it's not oil from the snow guns?

no that's all desert dust blown in on south winds . and yes there is some purpose for man made snow i guess in the month of june !! main chute today was ditto of yesterday . still top to bottom no questions asked at alta . saddle skied as nice today as yesterday

Is that strip on Reg the only June grooming? What about Mark Malou?

Nope, Reg and Reg only, although there are some other places (for example, Chip's) where road plowing, etc., resulted in a strip one cat wide that wasn't intended for skiing.

Just to clarify a bit...they groomed Mark Malou regularly during their spring season, but that ended last weekend (6/13).This past weekend was a special extended opening, thus Regulator only.

sorry i don't ski snowbird for grooming any time of the year ! if i had my way i'd eliminate grooming and blasting budgets all together -that stuffs for girlymen

where admin is standing in the first new photo - is really no ground underneath him ! the flat surface he's standing on is the thickness of the snow pack - considering the snow has to melt all the way to the ridge behind him .
