I think the end is here. Mt Brighton and Alpine were not open today and there is a lot of rain in the forecast for the weekend.

Do you think the places further north will last another week or two? They had a pretty good snow year and only that one warmup in Feb while I was up there. I would really like to get out one more time but life keeps getting in the way.

i think you will be okay dank. unless we get another big warm up, the boyne's and nubs will still have enough snow to slide on. i see the heavy rains are going south of the boyne's/nub's area right now so that's a plus.
temps are going back down next week

Am I looking at slop or a meltdown at Lutsen next week?

That's a long way from my neck of the woods, so I can only go off what I see around the web.
I think you will be safe from a meltdown, I would bet more on cold or cool nights and maybe temps getting above freezing during the day.
John Dee's forcast ( http://www.johndee.com/ ) are more for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but Lusten is just across the big lake from the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan so temps and storms are probably fairly close minus any lake effect snow storms.
I bet the views are great overlooking lake superior and of course the northern lights at night
If you end up going, I would love to see a trip report.

From John Dee's Site

1-4 DAY FORECAST:

Things will be fairly quiet across the majority of the region for the rest of this week. Some LES will try and form across the UP and into NWL MI today, but totals in most cases will be around an inch or less, with some locales in the central UP and NWL MI seeing 1-3" fall in the next 24 hours.

The quiet weather will continue into tomorrow and Friday as well and then by the weekend a bit of light snow my fall across the northern ½ of the region, but it does not look like any significant accumulations will occur, with most totals around 1-2" from I-80 north or even a bit further north than that.

Temps will run below average for the next several days, including some very cold temps in the Northwoods. Highs for the next 2 days will be in the single digits and teens in the Northwoods, with 20’s by Friday and some upper 20’s to low 30’s by the weekend.

5-10 DAY FORECAST:

The outlook for next week sees the pattern to remain fairly quiet. There are a few hints of a clipper system to drop in by around Tuesday and Wednesday and bring some light snows to the Great Lakes, but that is a long way off in the forecast to have much faith in.

Temps next week will be running close to average, which puts the freeze line up into the Northwoods.

Was able to squeeze one last weekend in over Easter weekend. Hit both Boynes. Got some GREAT spring skiing in. Fun, sun and soft snow. Looking forward to getting on the MTB trails soon.
