Affordable, small, beginner friendly resort in Europe

Sat Feb 02, 2019 5:02 pm

Hello Everyone,

I've never skied in Europe but next year we would like to go to Europe to ski. My sister is in England and a friend in Middle East would like to come as well.

We are beginner/intermediate and we need a recommendation for a uncrowded, affordable ski resort where we can spend 2 weeks around Xmas. Partying, off piste skiing, gnarly terrain is not on our priority list. Instead what we are looking for is a resort like Grand Targhee in USA. It's uncrowded, gets plenty of snow and has affordable vacation rentals nearby. English language ski lessons is a requirement.

I understand crowds and ease of access go hand in hand so we are not looking for a place that is close to a major airport. Since we will be going for two weeks, we can put up with the travel time.

It would be good to know how to save on lift tickets. Do you have to buy a pass in the spring like the USA?

Thanks in advance
