Today was the first day in Chamonix for our http://nasja.org West trip so we went to the easiest area, Le Tour. Le Tour is at the end of the Chamonix Valley at 4,600 ft.

The west facing front side of Le Tour is in the background as our guide Vincent points out other landmarks across the valley.

The backside of Le Tour faces north and is serviced by this high speed quad rising to 7,400 ft. The dam and lake in the background are in Switzerland. IMG

After lunch we skated on a road to Col de Baume, which is on the Swiss border. There is an off piste route down the valley behind me.

In late afternoon 3 of us did a short off-piste run with the guide. It was still fairly intermediate. There's a poma lift to the flat peak in left foreground, where you can ski into the Vallorcine valley below if you arrange a pickup.
