anyone using a heart rate monitor on the slopes?

I got a HRM unit in the summer for running (mine is a Bios Fitness, great stuff) - thinking of taking it on to the slopes next week. I'm pretty sure they would work even in the cold weather, because it's still close to the body. Has anyone done any training / improvements with it?

I used mine one day. I found it very interesting to know how high my heart rate actually gets while skiing and how many calories I burned. Not as much as spinning class....but, who is going to spend 6 hours of their day spinning?

The heart rate monitor worked fine in the cold. The only dilema is that I accidentally shut it off a few times because my gloves were hitting the buttons on the watch. Mine is a Polar HRM.
