Head iXRC in loose/powder snow

Postby rat » Tue Jan 18, 2005 2:44 pm

I'm an advanced skier on eastern hardpack but have very little experience with loose snow. The only powder snow I have ever seen has been in magazines. I am planning a ski trip to Panorama in the middle of February. Should I take my Head iXRC skis with me or should I consider renting a pair of western mountain skis at Panorama? I have no idea how the iXRCs will perform if I take them of a groomed run.

You're not likely to see much powder at Panorama unless you do a day with RK Heliski. It's a low snow area having a below average year. You may want to check out Lake Louise (2 hours NE) or Kicking Horse (2 hours NW). Fernie is a bit farther SE.
