In the south east, when nothing difficult is open the terrain park is, and I've learned to really enjoy air :) I was wondering how you would to a 180 off a jump. First, I don't have twin tips, however my skis to have minitips in the back and are fine for skiing backwards, so is this possible on my skis? On the landing would you land with your weight forward or back. Thanks.

Actually 180's are pretty easy on hard pack. Unless you really bury your tails in the ground you'll be fine. Be carecul though because I know 2 guys who have buried tails doing assorted tricks and broken skis. At any rate a 180 is a simple thing.
1 pick your direction of spin
2 wind up your upper body about 45 degrees in the opposite direction of your spin before you take off.
3 take off centered in your balance. (No FWD or aft lean)
4 as you take of you unwind with some force and turn your head to look over your shoulder in the direction you are spinning.
5 land facing uphill with your balance centered

tight body position not arms way extended will make you spin faster.
after you land a couple of 180's try a switch 180. (take off backwards) Because you are turning to face forward the landing is really easy.

If you are looking for a 360 it is the same with more windup and more spin. Once you launch with your head turned over your shoulder, hold it there until you rotate far enough to spot your landing. Once you spot your landing you will naturally unwind and land flat

thanks for the tips. my first try i leaned a lil to far back on the landing, but as soon as my tips started to burry I fell to the side so my skis wouldn't snap :). I landed it on my second try, now I just gotta up my confidence so I can get it right every time and move on to a 360.

good good. The thing to remember with 360's is to turn your head over your shoulder and keep it there until you spot your landing.

i have gotten really good at 180 and can do them without even thinking about it, i just cant do a 360 it is so annoying. I can do them with a decent amount of speed now 2, very fun.. never tried a fakie one, have to try it though

How about 180 grinds, did you tried already that trick?

A 180 Grind is a trick on the rail that involves a 180-degree turn at the beginning and at the end of the grind. This will help you to fine-tune your movement in the air and will teach you about the importance of balance, timing and approach. Make sure you are already comfortable with Ollies and making turns before trying this trick.

I'm still searching for detailed 180 grinds steps and maybe next time that I'll visit here I'll post it in this forum..Thanks

I tried doing a 180 several times this past weekend. I ran into trouble because I wasn't able to spot the landing that well.

Next time I go skiing I am going to try a 180 without goggles to see if that makes a difference. Does anyone know any tricks to spotting a landing? Is it possible my goggles just don't have great peripheral vision or is there a technique that would help?
