WI / MN TRYING to open!

Well, the weather outside it frightful, unless you're into the green grassy stuff. In spite of the weather, ski areas are trying to open up for the season. So here's the update, if you're up midwest.

MN : The Twin Cities area is hurting for snow. Welch Village is open with a few runs. About 4. If you rumage around the locals only areas you may be able to find more runs than that, but it seems abot average. Hyland has 6 trails available over three lifts. Afton has 15 runs open, and they're making snow. And Mount. Kato has, and I quote, "3 to 4 runs open". So, call ahead. Frontenac isn't open yet, they hope to open in the week. Coffee Mill is the same way.

You know the snow is bad when even Lutsen is saying they have just over 50% of the moutnains open.

WI : Mt. LaCrosse has one lift and three runs available as of now. Cascade is really trying to open up as well, they've pushed back opening day to after X-mas. Devil's head IS open, two runs and two lifts.

If you put all of southern MN and WI together, you have one nice hill, actually. But, with the weather being as it's been, we're lucky to have man-made snow at all.

Me? I'm REALLY looking into one of those dirt surf boards at this point, or looking for someone to fund an emergency transfer out west for something resembling fields of white. Any takers?

Prey for snow!

-Tyg (Stuck in LaCrosse...)

Tyger, we can add Wild Mt. to your Minnesota list (NE of the Twin Cities in Taylors Falls, on the WI border). They're reporting 90% of their terrain open.

AHH! so they do! I don't know where they got it, I think they're importing stuff from Canada.

Seriously, I forgot about Wild Mt. Sorry 'bout that. I left out a few other places too like Trolhaugen and Mt. Christy and the like. I also didn't hit up like Wilmot in Illinois either.

All this green... GAH!

-Tyger
