Anton Active Suspension Skis

Since most of my TR of 3/25/2010 at Sun Valley was about this ski demo, I figured it should be referenced here:

The first demos were at Winter Park in late January in conjunction with the SIA convention in Denver. NASJA's Western Winter Summit was there too (I did not attend as that's my time slot in Canada) so some NASJA members had already tried the skis there.

They may look strange but they generally work as advertised. Those review blurbs include some well known equipment gurus like Peter Keelty, Seth Masia, Morten Lund and Martin Bell. Also admin's friend Mitch Kaplan, who introduced me to the Recons on the NASJA New Zealand trip in 2006. Sadly, Mitch died March 15 from an obscure auto immune disorder that turned into leukemia.

The big obstacle for the Antons is going to be price. Not many people will pay $2-3K for skis no matter what they do. They say people who now have a large quiver will only need the Antons plus a powder ski. But I'm quite content nearly all the time wth the Recons plus a powder ski. It will be interesting to see whether the Antons get established even in a small niche.

For that price those skis had better ski the run for you then transfer the experience via direct neural input!

The most I've ever paid for a ski is $450. With the used and demo markets, there's no reason to spend more unless you want super-new, exclusive, and relatively unproven technology.
