WILDCAT NH APRIL 18 2014

Arrived in the Mount Washington valley just before noon today for a family gathering and managed to make it out to Wildcat just before 1.00 pm. Ran into a pass holder in the parking lot who was leaving saying nothing but rocks ,mud and ice out there. Well, were here to ski so no turning back. We bought our lift tickets and loaded up on the high speed lift. The heat ,rain and freeze up the last few days sure had a impact on the hill with lots of the trails closed for the season. However the open stuff skied ok as temps warmed the snow thru filtered sunshine . With little traffic on the trails it was great for high speed turns especially later in the afternoon when the snow finally started to soften. Found a bump run which was a added bonus to the day. Passed by the ravine parking on highway 16 which was completely full with cars all along the side of the highway, Read that last Saturday there were 1800 skiers at the ravine. From the wildcat summit we could see the line of skiers hiking up the ravine. Rain and snow in the forecast tonight with the sun returning tomorrow. Might go out again tomorrow if the temps rebound enough to warm things up.

Ended up skiing two days at Wildcat and left on Sunday ( April 20 ) the best day ](*,) . Oh well , take what you can get . Saturday was a wild day , corn and sun at the base and wind and dark clouds at the top with no softening . Two types of skiing all in the same day. The ravine across the valley remained obscured in clouds all day .
