Conditions at Sunshine?

HI,

At Lake Louise this week. Snow is pretty good, but getting thin, and the sunny warmth Tuesday didn't help.

Does anyone have first-hand information about conditions at Sunshine before we take the bus over there? We're staying in Lake Louise, so it's much easier to stay here.

tia,

Tom

The base at Sunshine will be deeper but the surfaces will be similar. It depends IMHO more on the type of skiers in your group. At Sunshine the best preserved snow is on primarily intermediate terrain off Continental Divide, while Goat's Eye faces SW and surfaces are not great when it hasn't snowed in awhile. At Louise it's the frontside groomers that will be hard packed while the steep backside terrain preserves snow the best.

I will be passing through those areas in about a week.

I skied Louise today and Sunshine yesterday. Sunshine was nice with some new snow. I liked Lake Louise better, though. Still found some decent snow in the trees, especially off Larch Express lift. Now Revelstoke Sunday and Monday...
