Three more days on the horse . No new snow since the storm last Thursday so conditions are now packed powder and hard pack. Snow conditions are holding up as limited up hill lift capacity and lots of hiking to inbound chutes and bowls spreads the crowd around. Hiking T1 and T2 offer great skiing but depending on your hiking ability you will have to spend about 25 minutes on average reaching these peaks above the summit lift. Crowd light today so racked up a big amount of vertical at 4000' each run.

A one lane bridge over the Columbia helps limit capacity too!

Kicking Horse is a great place.

On my way there Feb 24. Only 1 day at KH , the rest at REV. Good way to escape the non winter were having here in the East.

If you have only 1 day at KH and your day is Saturday ( the one busy day on the horse ) , would pass on the hikes on T1 and T2 as this will take too much time off the clock with the meter running on your ticket . if you want steeps you can use the small staircase at the summit of stairway to heaven chair that leads you to whitewall. This is a very steep area. There is also the pioneer chair that serves 1850' of vertical of tree filled skiing. This chair never has anyone on it as it serves the original ski hill prior to kh. Today, everyone wants the alpine. Rent a car with snow tires as the TC between Golden and Revelstoke is a scenic road but snow covered and prone to closures due to avalanches and avalanche checks.

We were at KH yesterday. It’s very cold, high up top about zero F. However there was no wind and riding that gondola made the weather tolerable.

The snow is good top to bottom and the base is as deep as I’ve ever seen it in 8 visits.

We will be at Fernie today, Castle tomorrow, same Fri/Sat but not sure which order.

Sounds good, back in the east ,last day on the Horse was the 13th and still found loose snow. Have family now at Fernie. Meanwhile ,in the east rain and heat !
