VIDEO: Alta Ski Area "Welcome to Winter" 2018-19

Hate to say it, but it looks pretty thin so far over that way. Hopfully you can get some depth when the next batch of predicted storms comes through later in the week.

It's actually much better higher up, but I only shot in the base area. That said, our collective fingers are crossed for this week's forecast.

Come visit again just so I can slap you (or make you hike Jitterbug again - same effect).

Since 27 of Alta's 43 inches season snowfall came before Oct. 14 with only 3.5 inches the rest of October, there must be the weak layer from hell up there.

What runs does Alta make snow upon that can actually open this Friday?

Yup, like every year we seem to be going into this season with a facet layer.

There's snowmaking on blue groomers off every lift except Supreme. I suspect that we'll be starting off with: Mambo, Meadow, Corkscrew and Nina's Curve off Collins; Devil's Elbow off Sugarloaf; and Magic Mile and Homerun off Sunnyside. Possibly more if the first wave of this weekend's storm delivers on Thursday.
