I'm not sure how many from Northern CA and NV are on firsttracks, but I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the following:

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - Mt Rose is now $39 for other resort pass holders and deserves to be recognized and rewarded with our business for extending their season. They are open Thu-Sun this weekend and next with May 8 being the last day. Tomorrow they will run the Northwest Passage lift until 6 pm and host a wine tasting on Lakeview from 4:15-5:45. A lady I rode lift with said they pour some great wines for $2. There is also still one more ladies day next Thursday for $29 and they have cut walk-up tickets to $79 and you can save $10 by buying online.

Mt Rose reported 26 degrees, 1-2" new and heavy fog early. I did not arrive until 9:30 and missed the worst of the fog, but cloud layer was affecting the top half of the mountain for the first couple of hours. Some of the groomed runs were firm as they must have been groomed early or after the snow fell and it froze, but there was good untracked towards the bottom. If you got off the groomed you had to find a smooth shot as tracks or roller balls from previous weekend were frozen and would knock you around. But some (very shallow) powder turns could be found.

I tested the Chutes at about 11:30, first skiing single diamond Beehive, then double-diamond Yellow Jacket. Snow was good and a lot better than dust on very firm I found in Mott Canyon a couple of weekends ago. In the afternoon, I skied four more Chutes, all double-diamond) starting with Saddle (much tougher than if sounds with narrow choke), Nightmare (required removing skis for 10 feet to enter), El Cap (the only one I shared with very many people) and Capivator (signed partway down, but not on map - between El Cap and Saddle). I thought I was doing good skiing 6 Chutes, but shared three lift rides with an employee who was trying to ski every run and quit with only 11/14 Chutes. He said he had about 40K vertical. I quit not much after 3:30 PM with almost 32K. Will add some pictures when I get home.

Adding some pictures. Great coverage at Mt Rose. I don't think I hit anything. Somebody I rode lift with said this was the best The Chutes have skied this late in the year.
