Snowbound in Bishop, 1/2/06

The weather guys underestimated another one. The storm that cranked up about 3PM yeasterday was supposed to drop maybe a foot, but Mammoth reported 50 inches this morning and just a couple of lifts opened at 10AM, similar to Saturday. The storm is expected to continue to 8PM.

Meanwhile I woke up to a foot of snow on the ground in Bishop (4,000 feet) and it is continuing here also. The 45 mile road between Bishop and Mammoth has had a couple of slides that need to be cleared before I can get up there. I would bug out and go home but tomorrow's potential is too tempting.

I grabbed a room here in Bishop around 1:30 this afternoon. Town is pretty full now. Mammoth must be chaos, with everyone checking out from the holiday weekend and not being able to get out of town.

Meanwhile the storm total up there is 91 inches in about 30 hours.

I'll second that!!

91" in 30 hours! That is 15 inches over my head.

OH MY ... 8 FEET IN 36 HOURS!!!

Not sure if or how Tony made it?
