Good times....

All matts pics ove rthe last 2 years or so have inspired me to try and get out into the backwoods with my boy instead of leaving him at home while i go to the lift served places..

I get the feeling though that there was a reason this was posted... if so.. that sucks big time.. can't imagine it myself... :(
 
After seeing this I'm feeling a bit guilty that my 8-year-old lab Samantha has been in snow only twice lifetime. She's almost white though and is hard to spot at a distance in snow.

Matt...that is the best post I have ever read in any of these skiing forums

I can't tell you how much you'd inspired me to take my black dogs (3 of them now) into the backcountry. Can't wait until hunting season is over and the snow falls!!!

The youngest one is ready to bound through the snow!!

I was shaking and crying when I read that this morning, and was quite relieved by the end.

I little while ago I had commented to Matt on the avi beacon I noticed her wearing in the pics. I am so glad that Matt had the right gear and was able to implement it, even with all the intense emotion that he was going through at the time.

Great job, and stop beating yourself up Matt. This was actually a huge success story and learning experience. Take away the good stuff from this experience. You know what I'm saying.

Actually, for those left in the dark wondering what in the heck Timmaah and Sharon are talking about, the correct message that Timmaah meant to refer to is this one. I was going to let mapadu tell that story himself here, but as long as the cat's out of the bag (or is that the dog?) anyway, I might as well point people in the right direction. If, in the end, mapadu decides to recount the tale here as well, I'll delete this message of mine.

Talk about dodging a bullet. Hopefully this is a story that someone else can learn from and take slides a bit more seriously.

you know what i'm thinking about all this......

we can all watch movies, see pictures and take all the avalanche
education classes we want, but sometimes it takes the experiance for it
all to register. .........and i'm glad you both survived the experiance.
mother nature doesn't mess around.

glad you're BOTH alright. :shock: Lucky? no. that's a miracle! after
experiancing what you must have it probably seems to be even more
than a miracle.
