Portland, OR - Not enough snow on the mountain to get out yet to shred? Don’t worry, the Art Institute of Portland has you covered and is bringing snowboarding action to Oregon's biggest city on Saturday. The 2nd Annual Backyard Bang rolls up fierce competition, local riders, live music, up-close snowboarding action, and creative expression and education into a perfectly packed snowball that will land in the Pearl district from noon to 4 p.m. tomorrow.

This snowboarding rail jam, held at the Art Institute at 1122 NW Davis Street will consist of a preliminary qualifying round where local kids compete for a chance to go head-to-head with the invited pros in the finals. Riders at the 1st Annual Backyard Bang included Jed Anderson, Lucas Magoon, Chad Otterstrom, Leanne Pelosi, Nick Dirks, Ryan Thomspon, Jarad Hadi, Jamie Anderson, Colin Langlois, and Desiree Melancoln among others.

In addition to experiencing boarding athletes attempting tricks on the rail, there will be opportunities to win free gear and season passes to the mountain, take part in the best-dressed boarder contest, be a part of live documentary film action, hear music spun by local DJs and 94.7, have great food and even get a bird’s eye view from the Widmer-sponsored VIP deck.
