Gore Mountain to Install Triple on Bear Mountain
North Creek, NY (Wednesday, July 3, 2002) - Gore Mountain has announced it will install "The Topridge Triple" and add three new trails and a glade on Bear Mountain for the upcoming 2002/2003 winter season. The lift will provide service from Straightbrook Valley terrain to the summit of Bear Mountain. The Straightbrook Valley is noted for popular runs such as "Hawkeye" and "The Rumor."
"The Topridge Triple" will eliminate the need to traverse the flats of "Cloud," an area that was once the only route to access the base from the Gore Mountain summit.
New terrain serviced by this lift include the intermediate trails "Uncas" and "Tannery," and the advanced "Topridge" under the lift line. The trails will be connected to the Hudson River pipeline, which provides an endless supply of water for a snowmaking system that covers over 95% of Gore Mountain terrain. New glades will be added to Gore's extensive backcountry and tree skiing trails. Guests should also look for continued trail work on "Foxlair."
"This improvement will be welcomed by skiers, snowboarders, and especially families," commented General Manager Michael Pratt. "The new developments will result in a significantly improved customer experience."
Gore Mountain's summer season will begin July 20, with Northwoods Gondola Skyrides offered daily and lift service mountain biking Friday-Monday through September 1. These activities are also available Saturday-Sunday from September 7-October 13, and Columbus Day.
