Eagle Ridge Phase 2 at Marmot Basin Ahead of Schedule
Jasper (AB), Canada (Sunday, July 7, 2002) - After a hugely successful season in 2001-02, Marmot Basin in Jasper National Park is well ahead of schedule with the ski area’s newest development – “Eagle Ridge Phase 2”.
Hundreds of trees are being selectively removed from the two mountain faces known as ‘Chalet Slope’ and ‘Eagle East’ to improve the already existing glade skiing. “Eagle Ridge Phase 1” saw the development of 20 new runs and a new quad chairlift on Eagle Ridge, the largest new lift-accessed terrain development in western Canada last season. Phase 2 will make it even bigger for the 2002-03 season.
Many of the 20 new runs are treed runs ideal for accomplished skiers and riders. Further glading over the summer months on the two mountain faces will be very selective in order to create better spacing and more skiable terrain. Glading on ‘Chalet Slope’ has now been completed, and the ‘Eagle East’ slope will be gladed during August.
