Junior Ski Racing Series Kicks Off at Coronet Peak

Queenstown, New Zealand (Monday, July 8, 2002) - The Meadow Fresh Junior Interfield Series starts at Coronet Peak this weekend on Saturday, July 13th, with a field of over 60 children expected to take part.

"Our main aim is to encourage junior ski racing in New Zealand, growing the sport from the grass roots up," said Stephanie Patrick, race co-ordinator. "All children under 14 are welcome to come and have fun and enjoy the race atmosphere. Everyone who takes part will receive a certificate and there are medals for the top three spots in each age group."

The GS race is the first of series of four that will be held at Coronet Peak, Cardrona, Treble Cone with the final at The Remarkables on 8 September.

Registration is $5 and will take place at Coronet Peak between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m. with racing starting at 10:00 a.m. For further information, contact QAST at 03 442 8182.
