Helmets Required for Crested Butte Ski and Snowboard School Students Twelve Years and Under

Mt. Crested Butte, CO (Sunday, July 14, 2002) - Most, if not all of Crested Butte's high profile freeskiers and riders wear helmets, and they'll now be joined by kids twelve and under participating in Crested Butte Mountain Resort's (CBMR) ski school programs. Crested Butte has now joined neighboring Aspen in requiring helmets of ski school children, a trend which seems destined to spread throughout snow country.

"By announcing our decision now, we hope to educate our guests early about this policy and heighten awareness about helmet usage among parents and children", said Randy Barrett, CBMR's Sr. Vice President of Resort Operations. "We support NSAA's 'Lid's On Kid's' Campaign, but feel strongly enough about the benefits of wearing helmets to take it one step further and mandate helmet use while kids are under our care in the Ski and Snowboard School".

"Helmets are a great second line of defense", said Barrett.

Boeri helmets are available for rent at CBMR's Kid's World, and helmets are available for sale at ski and snowboard shops throughout the resort.
