Perlman Leaves Mammoth to Head Colorado Ski Country USA
Denver, CO (Monday, July 15, 2002) - The Board of Trustees of Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA), the trade association for Colorado’s 24 ski and snowboard resorts, has named Rob Perlman the organization's new president and CEO. Perlman joins CSCUSA from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in California, where he served as executive director of marketing and sales.
Perlman, a Colorado native, returns to his home state after four years at Mammoth. CSCUSA credited Perlman’s inventive and youthful marketing programs as key to reinvigorating Mammoth’s image and appeal.
“The Board of Colorado Ski Country USA is delighted to have found a new leader for our association. Rob has a proven track record and is a great talent who is ready for the opportunity to keep the energy going in Colorado that has been built over the last couple of years,” said Pat O’Donnell, president of Aspen Skiing Company and board chairman for CSCUSA.
Between 1998 and 2002, his initiatives saw Mammoth season pass sales increase in revenue from $2 million to $10 million. Due to his impressive work at Mammoth, Perlman was awarded the 2002 Future Leadership Award (SAMMY) from Ski Area Management magazine. He was also the winner of four National Ski Areas Association national awards for best marketing and sales campaigns (one in 2002, two in 2001 and one in 2000).
Before his time at Mammoth, Perlman worked in the marketing department at Vail Resorts, where he developed and implemented marketing programs designed to entice new international and Colorado visitors to Vail and Beaver Creek. He also spent time at Winter Park in the communications department.
“Colorado has always been home for me and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to come back to the nation’s capital of skiing and represent our 24 resorts,” said Perlman. “I have always kept a close eye on what Colorado Ski Country was doing so I am happy to have the chance to continue and gain momentum with the great team I am about to join.”
Perlman grew up in Evergreen, Colo. and graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Business Administration. He will be relocating to the Denver area with his wife Erin and daughters Amanda and Morgan in August.
