Mammoth Taps Senior VPs

Mammoth Lakes, CA (Monday, July 29, 2002) - Mammoth Mountain CEO Rusty Gregory announced on Thursday the promotion of Pam Murphy and Bill Cockroft to Senior Vice Presidents of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. The promotions come in conjunction with a major restructuring of Mammoth's Senior Management Group.

"For Mammoth to survive and prosper in the radically changing and competitive world we live in, our company must have the courage and flexibility to reshape itself," said Gregory of the shift in management. "I am confident that the organizational changes I have made in centralizing Marketing and Sales under Pam Murphy and Mammoth Mountain East and West under Bill Cockroft will result in rapid acceleration of the success we currently enjoy."

In her new role, Murphy will focus on revenue growth, business development, pricing and packaging for the entire resort. Bill Cockroft will take over all guest service operations mountain-wide and in The Village.

Murphy is leaving her post as General Manager of Mammoth Mountain West where she served for the last four years. Prior to that, Pam was the driving force behind Mammoth's Marketing Department, as the company's first Public Relations Manager and eventually Marketing Director. Pam was promoted to Vice President of the company in 2000. Throughout her career Pam has distinguished herself by hard work, initiative and tenacity. Most recently Pam directed the construction and operation of the Mill restaurant, the complete remodel of McCoy Station, and numerous Main Lodge upgrades.

Cockroft has been with Mammoth Mountain for 33 years and worked in a number of departments from Ski Patrol to Lift Operations where he served as Lift Crew Director until 1996 when he accepted the position of General manager of Mammoth East. As GM of Mammoth East Bill has completely remodeled and revitalized the Canyon Lodge, developed the Little Eagle Lodge, and is now immersed in the Village at Mammoth project. In 2000 Bill was promoted to Vice President of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. Under Bill's leadership the financial and guest service performance of Mammoth East has risen to all time highs.

CEO Gregory added that "Pam and Bill have led Mammoth's efforts to improve Guest service results which has resulted in setting company growth and profitability records for 3 years running. We have used these profits to invest in excess of $125 million over the last 6 years to rebuild our facilities, which in combination with our improved Guest service capability has created a truly world class experience for our visitors. With the Village at Mammoth set to open in February of 2003 and the imminent arrival of major carrier air service, we are perfectly poised to attract significantly more long-stay visitors during the mid-week and summer and, as importantly, to retain them as repeat, loyal Mammoth Guests for years to come."
