Warren Miller Films Sold
Boulder, CO (Tuesday, July 30, 2002) - Time4 Media's Mountain Sports Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AOL Time Warner, has acquired Warren Miller Films, it was announced today by Mark Ford, President of Time4 Media, and Andrew Clurman, President and Publisher of Time4's Mountain Sports Media. Mountain Sports Media is the publisher of SKI, Skiing, Freeze and TransWorld Snowboarding magazines. Warren Miller Films is a leader in adventure sport filmmaking and has just completed production on its 53rd annual Warren Miller ski and snowboard feature film. The acquisition completes Mountain Sports Media May 2000 acquisition of Warren Miller Entertainment and SnoWorld magazine. The combination will form a new Warren Miller Entertainment Group. Bailey Pryor, previously President and Chief Executive Officer of Warren Miller Films, has been named President, Warren Miller Entertainment, effective immediately. He will report to Clurman. Kurt Miller, previously Chairman of the independent group, will step down, but continue to develop film and television projects for the group. "We are excited about the cross-platform opportunities this move brings to us," said Clurman. "We'll continue to integrate the assets of Warren Miller into MSM with events like TransWorld Live, an independent ski and snowboard film for college students, which was successfully launched last winter." Pryor joined Warren Miller Films in 1998. Previously, he was Vice President of Production at Tacamo Productions and a producer at Sonalysts Studios. A graduate of University of Connecticut, Pryor resides in Boulder with his wife and two children. In addition to the annual ski and snowboard feature film, Warren Miller Films teamed up with ABC and Touchstone on the two hour, prime-time MOW "The X-Team" and currently produces four television series on the Outdoor Life Network including Wild Survival with Corbin Bernsen, Warren Miller's Global Adventure, Toyota Presents: There and Back and Warren Miller Television. Other recent productions include the award winning On the Inside: Avalanches for the Discovery Channel, a children's series entitled The Adventures of Zimmo and 30 short films for Nike.com.
