Crested Butte to Add New Lift

Mt. Crested Butte, CO (Tuesday, January 21, 2003) - Crested Butte Mountain will add a new fixed grip quad lift this summer, according to a recent announcement by resort president and CEO, John Norton. The new Leitner-Poma lift will be installed at the base of the Prospect development and deliver skiers to the top of the Goldlink and Painter Boy lifts. The Prospect Lift will access the new ski-in/ski-out Prospect real estate development currently in its first phase of lot sales.

To date, 15 single-family lots out of 38 have been sold in this one-of-a-kind, ski-in/ski-out real estate project. “With this lift addition confirmation, we feel the interest in the remainder of our first phase lots will increase over the next few months,” said Norton. “People who took snowcat tours over the holidays were blown away by the beauty of this property. The development provides a very unique type of solitude that makes it so extraordinary and unspoiled, yet, with this lift addition, accessible to the ski slopes.”

“We’re excited about creating the highest quality development possible. The views Prospect offers are rarely found these days and you really have the sense of having gotten away from it all,” added Norton.

Leitner-Poma of America, Inc. will send a crew of six to eight people to install the Prospect Lift this summer, beginning at the end of June and scheduled for completion by mid-November, 2003. A fixed grip quad with a top tension drive, the lift will be 2,457 feet long with an elevation gain of 541 feet. The speed of Prospect Lift will be 450 feet per minute and the travel time will be 5.5 minutes, carrying 1,200 people per hour aboard fifty-five chairs.
