Hakuba Night Jump to Nagiller

Hakuba, Japan (Thursday, January 23, 2003) - Unheralded Austrian teen Christian Nagiller went 132.5 meters on his first jump Thursday night and surprised himself, among others, as he cruised to his first World Cup victory. The 18-year-old's jumps of 132.5 and 122 meters were worth 260.1 points, giving him almost a 12-point spread on runnerup Matti Hautamaeki of Finland, who jumped 125.5 and 122.5 for 248.4. Third place went to Japan's Miyahira Hideharu. No Americans competed.
