Snowbird, UT (Friday, January 24, 2003) - Heavy fog and snow forced organizers of the Subaru U.S. Skiercross Nationals to postpone the event until Saturday, Jan. 25. The Big Mountain competitions will also be delayed by one day pushing the starts to Sunday for the semi-final round and Monday for the finals.

Saturday's skiercross event has attracted all of the 2002 ESPN X Games podium athletes and many other contenders hoping to qualify for the 2004 X Games. Reggie Crist, 2002 X Games Gold Medalist, is using this U.S. Nationals event as a warm-up for the X Games beginning next week in Aspen, Colo. Other skiercross heavyweights include Peter Lind of Sweden, Enak Gavaggio of France and Aleisha Cline of Canada. Athletes in the skiercross are competing for $10,000. Many of the athletes will be competing in both the big mountain and skiercross events in hopes of winning an additional combined title prize of $5,000.

The skiercross is scheduled to get under way at 10 a.m. Saturday with the timed trials. Semi-finals and finals will run consecutively following the timed trials. The event is free to the public and can be viewed without a lift ticket from the Snowbird Entry 1 parking lot by the Gadzoom chairlift.
