Part-time Training for Full-time Career on Snow

Wanaka, New Zealand (Wednesday, May 14, 2003) - Becoming a ski instructor has become even easier at New Zealand’s largest instructor training center, Cardrona Alpine Resort, with the Weekend Warriors program.

Aimed at students and those in full time employment, Weekend Warriors is a full season training program for advanced skiers and snowboarders wanting to achieve NZSIA Level 1, the minimum certification required to teach snow sports both in New Zealand and overseas.

The course runs every Saturday for ten weeks following a two-day introduction weekend that gives candidates the opportunity to find out more about the course and get their goals assessed. During the season candidates will cover freeskiing and riding, technical skiing and riding, snow sport analysis skills and teaching progressions and skills.

“This is an ideal option for those who want to become an instructor but can’t afford to take a season off work to train,” said Mark Cruden, training director. “Similarly, if students are studying at university, they can head up the hill for training at weekends without disrupting their study.”

Weekend Warriors kicks off on June 28 with the introduction weekend and costs NZ$640.
