Bob Dart Gets '05 Worlds TD Post
Park City, UT (Friday, May 16, 2003) - Bob Dart, longtime racing official from Colorado's Winter Park Resort, has been named technical delegate for the 2005 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Bormio, Italy, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association said Friday.
The appointment was confirmed by the FIS Council during the International Ski Federation's (FIS) recent meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, according to Alan Ashley, USSA's vice president of athletics. He disclosed Dart's prestigious assignment as USSA began its annual Congress in Park City.
"It's an awesome honor and a real tribute to Bob's abilities," Ashley said. "We've had U.S. officials serve as TDs before in major events - alpine, nordic, freestyle, snowboarding and disabled - and this is a real opportunity for him. You know we're all extremely proud of Bob's selection.
"This isn't just some token honor; Bob runs the Competition Center at Winter Park, which is so outstanding, and he's fully vested in racing and in our athletes. There's a lot of responsibility that goes with this, but he's certainly up to that task. It's an outstanding choice by FIS."
