Sun Peaks Tops in Western Canada with Grade 5 SnowPass

Sun Peaks Resort (BC), Canada (Friday, May 23, 2003) - British Columbia's Sun Peaks Resort has announced that the resort received 1,140 visits from Grade 5 SnowPass holders, over 50% more than the next highest resort in western Canada.

The Grade 5 SnowPass program was developed by the Canadian Ski Council and is distributed yearly to the families of students in grade five. Two of the primary goals for this program are to introduce 10 year-old children across Canada to skiing/boarding and converting them into lifetime participants in the sports, and increasing the awareness of skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing across Canada.

The resort plans to take it one step further, says Vince Accardi Director of Marketing for Tourism Sun Peaks. “We would like to give grade 5 snow pass holders from across Canada the chance to leave their legacy and name one of our new runs," Accardi says. "We are adding two new ski runs this summer one expert run on our third mountain, Mt. Morrisey, and an intermediate run off Sundance mountain which will give visitors a sneak peak at our fourth ski area.”

The resort will be accepting suggestions for the new run names until June 1st and students can email their suggestions to marketing@sunpeaksresort.com. The successful grade five will receive a winter season pass for the 2003/04-winter season.
