Snow Follows World Cup to Kitz

Kitzbuehel, Austria (Tuesday, January 20, 2004) - Snow continues to pound the mountains of Europe and prohibited the first official downhill training run scheduled in Kitzbuehel Tuesday.

The training run was in preparation for the famed 64th Hahnenkamm downhill Saturday as well as the make up downhill on Thursday, originally slated in Bormio, Italy last month. It's been weathered-out in Bormio, then Chamonix, France, and last week in Wengen, Switzerland.

Organizers were clearing the snow that covered the course in hopes of having official downhill training on Wednesday. However, more snow and a cold front was expected.

The U.S. Team got the word at 7:30 a.m. while some were having breakfast. They spent the rest of the day doing an assortment of activities. Daron Rahlves (Sugar Bowl, CA), the defending Hahnenkamm champion, and Jake Fiala (Breckenridge, CO) free-skied the mountain on their fat boards and all participated in several games of volleyball.
