Smith Introduces Three New Goggles for Fall '04
Ketchum, ID (Thursday, January 22, 2004) - Smith Optics has introduced three new snow goggles, the Prodigy, Disciple and Knowledge OTG. Each model offers performance features to suit a variety of consumers, from professional athletes to weekend warriors, and will ship in Fall 2004.
The latest goggle in the Spherical Series is the Prodigy. Designed and developed with input from Smith team riders, this style is characterized by its unsurpassed field of vision, according to the company. The medium size frame is equipped with Smith Optics' Articulating Outrigger Positioning SystemT, which the company contends lends to goggle stability and allows for a comfortable and consistent fit. If you prefer wearing a helmet, this goggle is engineered to fit with your lid of choice. Strategically positioned RegulatorT lens vents allow the wearer to adjust airflow and reduce fogging. The Prodigy utilizes Smith's exclusive molded strap-end, providing quick and easy adjustments on the mountain, and dual density compression-molded foam adds to comfort.
Completing the Prodigy is Smith's Carbonic-XT spherical lens. Each lens is individually molded to duplicate the eye's natural curvature, hence eliminating distortion and allowing for visual acuity. The spherical lens allows for added air circulation. All Carbonic-X lenses are treated with anti-fog coating and are highly scratch-resistant, Smith says. The Prodigy's custom painted frame is offered in graphite, silver, black, blue, white and metallic brown. An optional Hop-Up Kit can be purchased to customize the goggle frame; available colors include camouflage, carbon fiber, white and neon green. As with all Smith goggles, the Prodigy comes with a microfiber storage bag to protect your goggles from scratches. Suggested retail price for the Prodigy is $95.00 for standard lenses, and $115.00 for mirrored lenses.
Two new additions to Smith's Regulator Series are the Disciple and the Knowledge OTG. The formers' distinctive look is purposefully designed to cure the dreaded helmet gap. The goggle utilizes dual density compression-molded face foam for comfort, and Smith's exclusive molded articulating strap-end that provides quick and easy adjustments. The Disciple is offered in the following custom painted frame colors: black, silver, smoke crystal fade and midnight. Suggested retail price is $55.00 for standard lenses, and $75.00 for mirrored lenses.
The Knowledge OTG (over the glass) model features updated styling and an enlarged lens chamber, which makes this goggle ideal for prescription eyeglass wearers. The floating membrane eliminates eyeglass temple pressure and the dual density compression molded face foam lends to comfort. The Knowledge utilizes Smith's exclusive molded articulating strap-end providing easy adjustment and precise fit. This large OTG frame is available in two custom painted color options, midnight and graphite, and a variety of lens colors, retailing for $60.00 standard lenses and $80.00 for mirrored lenses. Both styles utilize Smith Optics' patented Regulator lens ventilation system, which allows the wearer to adjust airflow inside the goggle to reduce fogging. The Knowledge OTG is also helmet compatible.
