Smith Hires Scott Robinson as Manager of International and Internet Sales
Ketchum, ID (Tuesday, January 27, 2004) - Goggle and sunglass manufacturer Smith Optics has announced the hiring of Scott Robinson as the new Sales Manager for international and internet sales. In this newly created position, Robinson will be responsible for executing strategic business plans to achieve sales and margin goals in each division.
"Smith Optics is extremely excited to have Scott on board," said Blair Clark, Senior VP of Sales. "He brings tremendous sales and general management experience to our team. He has been a successful outdoor retailer here in Ketchum and is an accomplished skier and cyclist so he understands the product needs of the consumer. Smith is pleased to have Scott back in Idaho with his family and friends."
Robinson's primary focus will be to develop new business both in international markets and via internet. He will work closely with international distributors to increase market penetration, brand marketing and overall sales worldwide. Robinson will be responsible for developing an online sales strategy, including implementing consumer promotions for accessories and replacement lenses in conjunction with Smith's existing retailers.
A seasoned finance professional, Robinson most recently worked at Savier as the Director of Finance and Operations where he handled budgeting and forecasting, as well as day-to-day operations for a global distribution network. For over six years, Robinson owned his own accounting business, and worked as a CPA consulting small businesses and private individuals on financial planning and management. Prior to this, he excelled as a Senior Auditor at one of the top three accounting firms, Ernst & Young, and was ranked first in his department by senior management.
A self-professed "techie," Robinson enjoys designing and implementing IT networks. Robinson is also an avid sports enthusiast, and spends his free time cycling, skiing and fly-fishing. He will be moving from Portland, Oregon to Idaho to work out of Smith Optics' corporate headquarters based in Ketchum.
