'Grommet Garden' Opens at Shawnee Peak

Bridgton, ME (Wednesday, January 28, 2004) - Shawnee Peak has announced the introduction of “The Grommet Garden.” Specifically designed for skiers and riders taking their first runs through park terrain features and elements, the Grommet
Garden is an instrumental step for beginners, says Shawnee Peak Director of Marketing and Communications Melissa Rock.

With four small rollers, a small hip jump, a 16-foot flat rail slide and 16-foot Rainbow Rail Slide, the Grommet Garden is the perfect
size to learn jumping skills, balance, small air tricks and Park safety and courtesy.

Nestled between two of Shawnee Peak’s most popular beginner trails – West Slope and Happiness Is – The Grommet Garden gives beginners a sense of belonging and freedom in “their own world.”

“The Grommet Garden is a perfect addition to Shawnee Peak’s extensive network of trails, features and elements,” said Henry Hudson III, Shawnee Peak’s director of snow operations. “Kids and adults will feel like they have their own spot to learn, without the pressures of the more advanced skiers and riders around them.

“And there is definitely a sense of accomplishment when one ‘graduates’ from The Grommet Garden to the more advanced Freestyle Terrain Park and Halfpipe,” said Hudson.

The western Maine resort presently sports 14 terrain features, and plans are afoot to add more.
