Ski Show Dates Set for Fall 2004

Waltham, MA (Wednesday, May 5, 2004) - The lifts may still be spinning in certain quarters of the U.S., but one of America's largest ski show producers has already announced their fall schedule.

BEWI Productions, the producer of consumer SnowSports Expos, has announced its Fall 2004 Expo schedule. With its entry into the New York City metropolitan area, BEWI's SnowSports Expos will visit five major U.S. urban markets in October and November.

The SnowSports Expos will be the kick-off to the snowsports season in New York, Boston, Denver, Hartford and Seattle. Over 150,000 attended the 2003 SnowSports Expos. A special BEWI feature at each SnowSports Expo is a massive pre-season sale of winter sports equipment and clothing hosted by a leading snowsports retailer in each city. Participating ski resorts offer a variety of Expo-only special offers on lift tickets, season passes and vacation packages and provide the latest information on winter vacation opportunities.

Expo dates, locations and featured retail partners this fall include:

  • New York Metro/Long Island SnowSports Expo - Long Island - Oct. 28-31 - Sports Authority
  • Colorado SnowSports Expo - Denver - Nov. 5-7 - Colorado Ski & Golf
  • Connecticut SnowSports Expo - Hartford - Nov. 5-7 - Ski Market
  • Washington SnowSports Expo - Seattle - Nov. 12-14 - Sturtevant's/Snowboard Connection
  • Boston Globe SnowSports Expo - Boston - Nov. 18-21 - Ski Market
BEWI Productions, which produces the Expos, has staged hundreds of winter sports events around the country for over 30 years. In announcing his newest SnowSports Expo in the desirable New York suburban area of Long Island, BEWI president Bernie Weichsel stated, "New York is the largest ski market in the country, bar none, and it's time to introduce our SnowSports Expo to this key market. In the greater metro New York region, Long Islanders are among the most enthusiastic winter sports participants with easy access to the Northeast ski resorts and excellent airport access to both western U.S. and European resorts."

At each SnowSports Expo, the audience will find the answers to any questions about the latest evolution in gear and clothing as well as a wealth of information about resorts around the country and in Europe. Entertainment is ongoing and in keeping with the active lifestyle theme of each Expo.

Show Emcee Uncle E keeps the ball rolling with activities like mock-sumo wrestling and trivia contests throughout each Expo hall. Freestyle ski and snowboard pros give dramatic demonstrations of their acrobatic talents, and the video-theater provides continuous showings of the latest in ski and snowboard adventure films.

Wintersports celebrities, including Olympic ski and snowboard medallists, bring their colorful stories to specially scheduled presentations throughout the course of each Expo. The Action Park and Street Course has become a major attraction for youthful skateboarders, many of whom are also expert snowboarders. Special kids' activities abound, at the designated Kids Sno-Park learning centers and at individual booths throughout the Expo hall. The Snow Monsters, those huggable "live" cartoon characters, give the small fry a special thrill. Snow Sliders Saloons offer floor-weary adults a well-earned pub retreat.

"These SnowSports Expos offer a wealth of information in time for season-long ski and snowboard planning, and the enormous savings on gear, lift tickets and clothing on sale at each Expo is a major attraction in its own right. SnowSports Expo equates to season-long snowsports values, and the smart shopper knows this is the place to get ready for winter," commented Weichsel when announcing this year's SnowSports Expo schedule.
