Momentum Grows for Major Park City Downtown Improvements

Park City, UT (Wednesday, May 5, 2004) - An 'open house' hosted by Park City to discuss approximately $9 million in downtown improvements including a Town Plaza and additions to structured parking at China Bridge drew well over 100 to the City Hall today. "The comments from those attending were quite positive and their enthusiasm very high", said Colin Hilton, Park City's Director of Economic Development and Capital Projects. He was joined at the open house by members from the Downtown Improvement Task Force and by architects who presented conceptual sketches of how these improvements could fit into Swede Alley behind Park City's Historic Main Street.

The goal, explained Hilton, is to make Park City's Historic Downtown more user friendly and capable of handling a diversity of both large and small events without the disruptions of closing Main Street. The next step in this process he explained is for the City Council to consider funding alternatives over the next several weeks as part of their budget deliberations.
