East Wall Re-Opens at Arapahoe Basin

Arapahoe Basin, CO (Sunday, May 16, 2004) - Arapahoe Basin's famed East Wall reopened to the public this weekend. The steep, above timberline terrain that covers the east side of the ski area has received close to a foot of snow in the last week.

The East Wall temporarily closed last week due to warmer temperatures and snow quality issues. The past few days of cooler temperatures and additional snow has enabled the ski area to re-open the terrain for skiing and riding. The East Wall traverse and lower terrain will remain open on a day-to-day basis weather and snow condition dependent. The area above the traverse still remains closed.

Fifty-five percent of the ski area remains open on a forty inch midway base. There is beginner skiing available off the Molly Hogan lift and intermediate skiing from top to bottom off the Exhibition and Lenawee lifts. With the opening of the East Wall expert terrain is available on the mountain.

Ski area passes are now available for the remainder of this season as well as next season. 2004-05 Adult pass prices start at $179. A-Basin has one of the longest ski seasons in Colorado and plans to close mid-June this season, weather and snow dependant.

A-Basin lifts open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday (9:00 a.m. weekdays). All skier services are available including ski school, rental shop, retail shop, cafeteria and bar.
