Owens Hired to Lead Stowe Sales Effort

Stowe, VT (Sunday, May 16, 2004) - Stowe Mountain Resort has hired Shawn Owens to the new position of executive sales manager. He will help the resort during its period of transition, as the $250 million Spruce Peak at Stowe alpine community becomes a reality.

Owens has worked for a number of ski resorts during periods of growth. His career began at Sunday River in Maine, where he worked in Guest Services and Sales. He then went on to work for Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, serving as director of sales.

Owens then married a Canadian woman and ended up working for Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia. There he oversaw a number of retailer programs, designed a youth program and dormitory, and ran Whistler’s glacier camps. Again he found himself in the midst of company growth, and learned more about how to manage a staff. But since his family is from Maine and his wife’s family is from Toronto, thoughts returned to living again in the East.

Owens’ new supervisor is pleased with the addition to his team. "I’ve known Shawn for many years, and I’m thrilled that he’s bringing his experience and energy to Stowe," says Michael Colbourn, VP of Marketing, Sales and Communications. "He’ll help us look at things in a slightly different way, making this an even better resort."
