U.S. Alpine Team Promotes Nine Athletes

Park City, UT (Tuesday, May 18, 2004) - The U.S. Ski Team late last week announced the promotion of nine athletes Friday for the 2004-05 season. The promotions came after the release of the May 1 FIS points list. Alpine Program Director Jesse Hunt said these promotions reflect the athletes’ outstanding results.

“We really want to acknowledge and reward these athletes for their solid performances during the 03-04 season. These athletes were not recognized for their outstanding 03-04 results based on the April 1 FIS List. We want to take this opportunity to recognize their accomplishments,” said Hunt.

The athlete promotions include:

Men
B Team:
Wade Bishop (24; Winter Park, CO)
Kevin Francis (21; Bend, OR)
Justin Johnson (26, Park City, UT)
TJ Lanning (19; Park City, UT)

Development Team:
Mitt Coats (17; Salt Lake City, UT)
Tim Jitloff (18, Reno, NV)
Erik Fisher (19, Eagle, ID)

Women
C Team:
Chelsea Marshall (17; Pittsfield, VT)

Development Team:
Lesley Lemasurier (19; Nellysford, VA)

Previous team nominations for the 04-05 Team were based on the April 1 FIS points list as printed. These Alpine Team nominations were announced April 26 at the U.S. Ski Team office in Park City. The U.S. Ski Team has begun its training camps for the 04-05 season in Mammoth, CA, and Mt. Bachelor in Oregon.
