A-Basin Celebrates Its 3rd Annual Festival of the Brewpubs

Arapahoe Basin, CO (Monday, May 24, 2004) - For the Memorial Day weekend, May 29 through 31, Arapahoe Basin will be hosting its third annual Festival of the Brewpubs. The beer tasting will begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. each day or while supplies last.

On Saturday, five local breweries will be taste-testing their favorite hand crafted ales. Brewpubs include Backcountry, Breckenridge, Dillon Dam, Pug Ryan’s and the Great Northern Tavern. DJ Jahstone will be spinning tunes in the base area from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the South Pacific fire dancers, Polynesian Fia Fia will be performing from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

On Sunday, A-Basin will be pouring some of its 6th Alley favorites including Blue Moon, Budweiser and Samuel Adams. Krystal 93 will be playing music in the base area and the bluegrass band Wildwood Holler! will be playing from noon until 3:00 p.m.

On Monday, Memorial Day, the festival will be featuring Front Range breweries by serving Boulder Beer, Flying Dog, Mountain Sun and New Belgium. Arnie J. Green will play his funky rock from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Opie Gone Bad will close out the festival from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.

A $15 14-oz. souvenir mug may be purchased for any one day of tastings. A mug valid for all three days of tastings is available for purchase at $30. (Must be 21 years of age to purchase the mug.) Free soda is availble for designated drivers, and all dogs must be on a leash. Commemorative t-shirts will be available for $15. Helmets are not required for this event.

Presently at A-Basin, adult lift tickets are available for $35 and child tickets (age 6 - 14) are only $15. A-Basin has received over 228" of snow this season and currently has a 25" midway base. The ski area is open from 8:30 a.m. weekends and 9:00 a.m. weekdays until 4:00 p.m.

Three lifts are currently serving 30% of the terrain. Skier services are available including ski and board rentals, retail shop, café and bar. Call the ski area for ski school availability. For rails, jumps, bumps and thrills the upper terrain park is still open.
