Bend, OR (Tuesday, May 25, 2004) - Some of the world’s best return to Mt. Bachelor for the North American Pond Skimming Championships on Monday, May 31, at 11:00 AM.

Registration for the annual Memorial Day competition is $25.00 and open now to the first 100 registrants. Entry forms are available online at www.mtbachelor.com or may be picked up at 115 SW Columbia in Bend . All entrants will receive a Bachelor Beach towel and are entered in a drawing to win a 2004-2005 Mt. Bachelor Season Pass. A pair of Salomon Crossmax skis and bindings will go to the two competitors who garner the highest scores.

“It’s the last day of the season and the party on the West Village Deck will be as crazy as the competition on the pond,” said Mountain spokesman Chris Johnston.

Scoring is based equally on three categories: Costume, Style/Trick, and Distance. Each category has a value of 10 points for an overall maximum of 30 points. Every competitor will get at least one run with those crossing the pond entirely granted a second run. Competitors under the age of 18 must have a parental or guardian signature.

Helmets are required, and no ski poles will be allowed on the course.
