Mendes Signs With Fischer Boots

Concord, NH (Saturday, October 16, 2004) - Fischer Race Director, Mike Day, announced yesterday that U.S. Ski Team member Jonna Mendes will race with Fischer boots for the 2004/05 season. A-Team athlete Mendes previously raced in Salomons. She has been on Fischer skis since 2000, and switched to Fischer bindings for the current season.

Mendes tested Fischer’s Soma Tec boots extensively this summer and fall. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of Nicole Hosp(AUT) who had several 03/04 Worldcup podium finishes with Fischer boots. “This is a very exciting step for both Jonna and Fischer,” said Day, “I expect we’ll see some great results this season.”

A two-time Olympian, Mendes scored a gold medal in the Downhill at the U.S. Alpine Championships at Alyeska, Alaska in March by nearly a full second over teammate Julia Mancuso.
