Four for The Fourth: Ski, Mountain Bike, Hike and Golf This 4th of July at Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain, CA (Monday, May 9, 2005) - Big mountain, big snow, big scenery and for this July Fourth, a big bonus for holiday travelers with a passion for the outdoors: Mammoth Mountain, California will offer skiing, mountain biking, golf, hiking and more -- all in the same day. Additionally, Mammoth will have two all-American fireworks shows lighting up the nighttime skies through the weekend.

Thanks to near-record snowfalls this past winter, visitors will be able to ski on upper Mammoth Mountain, hike and bike the trails around the lower Mountain, and tee it up at nearby Sierra Star Golf Course. A special package is available combining all of these activities with overnight lodging, starting at $105.

Mammoth Mountain, with a summit elevation of 11,053 feet, has been buried under 15 to 20 feet of snow since last October. The resort typically enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the country but with 575 inches of snow by the end of April, the 2004-05 season has been exceptional, prolonging great conditions well into the summer. Skiers and snowboarders will have access to a variety of intermediate and expert terrain.

While conditions will be white near the top of the mountain, the resort's 3,100 vertical-foot rise means summer will be in season on the lower part. Mountain bikers will take off on trails at the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park with a wide variety of terrain options for every ability level. For hikers, Tamarack Loge and the nearby Lakes Basin will serve as an ideal starting point to set off on a summer holiday trek. Numerous trails from the historic 1920's-era lodge provide visitors stunning views of the area's lakes and scenic snow-capped mountains.

To finish off the warm-weather activity lineup, golfers will head to the Cal Olsen-designed Sierra Star Golf Course, California's highest 18-hole course. This scenic, par-70 course covers 6,708 yards and is lined with Jeffrey Pines and White Fir trees.

A variety of lodging options include luxury hotel rooms, rustic lakeside cabins, and new resort condominiums in The Village at Mammoth, which also offers dining, shopping, events and live music. The special Four for the Fourth Lodging package is being offered at Mammoth Mountain Inn, Juniper Springs Resort and the Village at Mammoth and includes a two night stay, two lift tickets, two rounds of golf at Sierra Star and two bike park passes starting at $105 per person/per night. Prices are based on double occupancy for a two-night stay. The package is valid July 1-4, 2005.
