'Groundbreaking' Developments Announced at Seven Springs

Champion, PA (Monday, May 23, 2005) - Western Pennsylvania ski and snowboard resort Seven Springs announced on Friday a flurry of significant expansions and improvements. In addition to the groundbreaking for Southwind at Lake Tahoe, a $100 million townhome development, an additional $10 million will also be invested in the improvements to the resort's ski area, Main Lodge and hotel, as well as the creation of a new water park.

"These enhancements underscore our commitment to continually improve the quality of the resort for our guests and our employees," said Scott Bender, president of Seven Springs. "However, they'll also create jobs, both short- and long-term, and increase the tax base for the township and the school district, so many people will ultimately benefit from these improvements, something equally as important to us."

Increased snowmaking capabilities and new slope grooming tools debut for the 2005-2006 ski season at Seven Springs. Phase One of the automated snowmaking system will be implemented for the upcoming season, which will make snowmaking at Seven Springs more efficient. Also new for the winter are a state-of-the-art half-pipe groomer and new features for the terrain park, ready for boarders and skiers to catch big air. A new slope will challenge experts, a black diamond-rated trail on the North Face ski area.

In addition to the outside enhancements, hotel guests will also be treated to new indoor surroundings when each of the 400 rooms in the resort's Main Lodge and 10-story hotel is renovated. The transformation will take place over the next four years, enhancing the Seven Springs experience with added comfort in the guest rooms.

The Main Lodge is also scheduled to receive an extensive makeover with improvements to many public spaces, including meeting rooms and the Conference Center. A new Starbucks coffee shop will also be located in the Main Lodge.

A new water park will be available for summer activities at Seven Springs beginning in 2006. While many details are still in development, plans include a lazy river, a zero-entry pool, several chutes and slides, children's and refreshment areas, a place for simply relaxing poolside and nightly water fountain shows. The 2.5-acre water park will be located in front of the hotel at the base of the slopes.
