Long-awaited Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa Opens at Boyne Mountain

Boyne, MI (Monday, May 30, 2005) - The single largest investment in Northern Michigan's hospitality industry history was officially unveiled last week in celebration of the completion of the Mountain Grand Lodge and adjoining Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain.

The $70 million, 220-room Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa luxury condominium-hotel and 88,000 square foot Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark are the result of a partnership between Boyne USA Resorts and New Frontiers Capital, LLC, the Auburn Hills-based recreational and entertainment investment firm that helped develop both properties.

Doors opened to the general public on Friday.

"Today is a great day at Boyne Mountain as we celebrate the unveiling of the centerpiece of our renaissance," said Stephen Kircher, President of Boyne USA Resorts' Eastern Operations. His late father, Everett Kircher, was a pioneer of the downhill ski industry and his innovative spirit was introduced to Northern Michigan when he created Boyne Mountain over 56 years ago.

"The addition of the two new facilities represents the start of an exciting new chapter in Boyne's history -- one that is designed to attract an entirely new generation of families to the resort," Kircher added.

Randy Dzierzawski, president of New Frontiers Capital, LLC agrees with Kircher. "The most significant part of today is not just the opening of these two exciting new properties, but the fact that Avalanche Bay and the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa are being combined with the Midwest's best golf and skiing, 3,000 acres of hiking and biking trails and other recreational activities to make Boyne Mountain Michigan's first year-round weatherproof vacation resort."

Inspired by mountain lodges in Europe, the Alpine ambience of the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa is a blend of old-world authentic combined with the up-to-the-minute appointments and amenities of a boutique hotel. Custom textiles and furniture, wrought-iron work and hand-hewn pine are mixed with flagstone, bronze, granite and glass. All guest rooms feature flat-screen TVs and wireless high-speed Internet along with hand-painted furniture and an exclusive bedding package.

Solace Spa features an extensive menu of services inspired by the four seasons of Northern Michigan in its 19 treatment rooms forming a 18,000 square foot destination spa facility. With 88,000 square feet of rides, slides, waves and pools, Avalanche Bay is designed to deliver an aquatic experience for all ages. Boyne Mountain will provide waterpark enthusiasts with a winter wonderland thematic treatment, toboggan and tube slides, Rip Zone surf simulator (Michigan's first), and climbing walls and towers.
